North Indian Motorbike Tour
During my time in India I also wanted to see as much as possible from the country and next to my 'normal' travel, I also wanted to visit the very north of India at the border to Pakistan.
Thus, in August & September 2008, I did my first 2-week motorbike tour. Planned was a tour to the Kashmir region with Leh and the Punjab.
As - not unusual - it turned out to become a somewhat different tour.
For ease of use, the pictures of this tour have been split into the following galleries on Picasa :
- The first part of the tour was to travel from Jammu to Srinagar.
- After the first attempt failed, I changed my route to head to Leh via Dharamsala & Manali.
- From Manali, I started towards north, but realized that due to the late monsoon that was not feasiable, such that I decided to fly to Leh instead : Rothang La & Flight to Leh.
- As a next step I visited Leh & Ladakh Festival, which happend to be at the time when I was in Leh.
- A highlight of this tour was going across the Khardung La, which is - with 5'600 m above sea level - the highest motorable road in the world.
- As part of the visit in Leh, I was also visiting different Places around Leh.
